Edward grew up in Wilton, CT about an hour north of New York City. He has been swimming since he was the age of 4 years old, and began to compete at the age of 8. His fondest swimming memory was winning his high school state championship in 2003. Ed is a lifelong swimmer often swimming during his free time when he is able to.
Professionally, Edward began coaching in the summer of 2006 for Ridgefield Aquatic Club in Ridgefield, CT. He quickly fell in love with coaching and began coaching a variety of ages and abilities levels. He became the senior 2 coach starting in 2007 and continued to work as the senior coach there until 2009. While he was a senior coach at RAC, he coached many swimmers who went on to become sectional finalists, Junior National qualifiers, and even Olympic Trial qualifiers.
In 2009, Edward took a break from coaching to help his mother fight and survive a battle against lymphoma. In 2010, Edward went back to coaching for the Greenwich YMCA dolphins where coached age group swimmers. Those swimmers have gone on 6 years to compete at many national level meets including YMCA Nationals and Sectionals. In 2011, Edward returned to Ridgefield Aquatic Club to become a senior coach again to help in the transition between coaching staff until 2013.
2013 was a busy year for Edward as he moved up to Beverly, MA to become the Lead Site Coach for the YMCA of the North Shore Sharks. He led a group of swimmers out of the Ipswich YMCA site to become one of the most popular and progressive sites on the team. In 2014, Edward became the Lead Age Group coach at YMCA of the North Shore and switched to the Beverly site where he produced the most amount of Age Group Champion qualifiers on the team, including a handful of Eastern Zone swimmers. He also met his wife while working at the YMCA of the North Shore and they married in January of 2016.
In 2015, Edward was offered the position of Head Age Group Coach at Crimson Aquatics out of Brookline, MA. His swimmers improved considerably at Crimson as he again brought more athletes to the Age Group Championship meet than the previous years.
In August of 2016, Edward moved to Charlotte, NC to become the lead senior 2 coach at SwimMAC. Edward is known for bringing a lot of energy, knowledge, and passion to the pool deck.
“I am very excited to work with Coach Peter and the rest of the coaching staff at SwimMAC. My goal is to help each kid in Senior 2 progress towards their goals both in the water, in the classroom, and in their lives after SwimMAC.”
