2015 Greg BaskwellGreg Baskwell
South Dolphin 2 Lead Coach, Assistant for Shark 2 and Senior 2

Education: NC State University, majored in Sport Management

Started working for SwimMAC: August 2013

Greg began competing as a MAC member in 1996, following the lead of his two older sisters. He was a high school swimming All-American and Scholastic All-American, and was a member of the 2007 MAC team that captured the Men's Junior National Championship. He placed 7th in the 200 breaststroke at the meet, then followed his sisters path again and decided to attend NC State University.  His senior year (as a redshirt senior) marked the 11th consecutive year a Baskwell competed for NC State swimming, and Greg left his name in the record books - making the top 10 times in NCSU history in the 200 breaststroke.

After graduating, Greg came home to Charlotte and back to the pool. He has continued his role as a summer league swim coach - a job he's held since 2007 - and created a series of clinics that he managed for 20+ participants per session. He joined SwimMAC's staff as an assistant coach in 2013.

Greg describes himself as a huge Wolfpack fan, a big Panthers/Hornest fan,and generally an all-around sports fan. When he's not coaching he enjoys watching TV, playing basketball, and hanging out with his (somewhat famous) dog, Finley.

Coach Greg says: "The best thing about working for SwimMAC is how professional, friendly and engaged all of the coaches are. They/we create such a great atmosphere on deck and it really allows the athletes to learn while also having fun. With a team this big, each day is different. You can not only learn something new every day, but you can also teach something new every day."
