Kerry grew up in Richmond, Kentucky, where her parents both worked as Eastern Kentucky University professors (in mass communications/journalism and forensic science/chemistry). She joined the Arlington Country Club swim team when she was six years old, coached by the legendary Tim Cahill. Kerry later competed for Model Laboratory School and Wildcat Aquatics, before becoming a four time All-American and Academic-All American at South Carolina.

After college, Kerry focused on furthering her education at law school, where she also met her husband, Bobby. The couple moved to Charlotte and married, and now live in Cotswold with their three children. Her law career includes more than 13 years at Moore & Van Allen, where she was a partner in the corporate taxation and economic development group. Her work there won her accolades from the Charlotte Business Journal's annual list of 40 Under 40, which recognizes 40 individuals under the age of 40 who are making major strides in their careers and having a positive impact on their communities.

Kerry returned to the pool as a masters swimmer while in Chapel Hill, and joined the SwimMAC Masters in 2011. As a masters swimmer, Kerry's accomplishments include:

- 1999 All-American SCM 100 IM
- 11 NC Masters Records (Individual and Relays)
- Member of 3 current FINA World Record-holding relays (800 free long course meter relay, 400 free long course meter relay, 400 medley long course relay)
- Member of 7 U.S. Masters Swimming (USMS) Record-holding relay teams (400 Freestyle - 35+ age group; 400 free long course meters, 200 medley short course yards, 800 free short course yards, 400 medley short course yards, 400 medley long course meters)

- Member of 2014 World Champion Relay Team (200 LCM Freestyle – 40+ avg. age group)

Kerry is now a Level 3 US Masters Swimming Coach and shares her enthusiasm for the sport by planning workouts that are challenging, but fun, and wearing a lot of crazy hats. When she's not in the pool or on the pool deck, Kerry enjoys, dancing, music, reading, and traveling. She prefers beach vacations to snowy ones, and she loves family reunions.

What does Kerry love most about working with SwimMAC?
"SwimMAC Masters swimmers are always striving to be better. I love listening to what my Masters swimmers want out of their workouts and trying to find an answer to make them faster, more efficient, or at least just make them laugh and really enjoy the experience!"
