July 2014

SwimMAC's coast-to-coast meet wrap-up:

SwimMAC was well-represented at pools all across the country last week! Competition took place four different meets: Southern Zone Age Group Championships (representing NC), Southern Zone Senior Championships, Junior National Championships, and the Tarheel State Championships. Click on the meet name below to jump to meet notes and photos from that event, or scroll through to see them all. This was a great way to close out our age group long course season! Way to go MAC Nation!

Making progress! One Lane at a Time Campaign surpasses 25% mark!

Just eight weeks after launching our One Lane at a Time capital campaign, we have already hit a milestone. Pledges have surpassed 25% of our $6 million campaign goal. Generous gifts by the Roses-Saunders family, Larry and Ashley Lee, the McFee family and the Cummings family have created a strong foundation of personal contributions. The SwimMAC Board of Directors and the volunteer capital campaign steering committee members have all pledged 100% participation.

Fast Times in Shelby

by Larry Lee

More than 260 SwimMAC athletes competed in the 2014 SAC Last Chance Meet in Shelby, NC July 11-13.

Swimmers ages 8-18 years old came together in a spirit of competition and sportsmanship.  This resulted in some of the fastest swims of their careers, including many state cuts and new time standards, as well as many fun memories.

A patriotic serenade and the Moss Creek parade!

SwimMAC is feeling the Independence Day spirit!

In North Charlotte, SwimMAC helped the Moss Creek Social Committee with their Annual 4th of July Parade and ice cream social!! SwimMAC seniors are grateful for the opportunity to give back and say "Thank you!" to the residents of Moss Creek for the opportunity to practice at their fantastic facility. Our next community project is July 26 at their Annual Pool Party. Come and join in the fun!
