Congrats to our IMX Select Camp representatives!

SwimMAC had 36 of the 118 swimmers who qualified and accepted their spot in North Carolina Swimming's IMX Camp. Eligibility was based on the swimmers' 2015 long course IMX rankings. In addition, North Shark 3 coach Ashley Thompson was named to the staff for the event.

Unfortunately, North Carolina Swimming elected to cancel the IMX Camp scheduled for January 23-24 in Greensboro due to the winter storm, but we'd like to recognize the following swimmers for their achievement:

SwimMAC hosted the 2016 Novant Invitational January 16-18 at the SwimMAC Training Center on the campus of the Charlotte Latin School.  Guests from Lakeside Swim Team, YMCA of the Triangle Area (YOTA), Marlins of Raleigh, and Nation's Capital Swim Club came to compete in a unique format that provided a rare winter opportunity to swim long course. According the some of the SwimMAC coaches:

Goals met at the YSSC Dual Meet

The goals of the YSSC Dual Meet meet were to provide a racing environment coming off winter break training, create a prelim-final atmosphere to obtain experience going into the end of the season, work on race strategies and of course to out touch the other team in this dual meet environment as much as possible. All of those goals were achieved!

Giving Back: SwimMAC Serves the Community

2015 Shoeboxes for Soldiers
SwimMAC Carolina's age group competitive team has more than 800 members living all around the Charlotte area. When we pool our time & talents, we can have a big impact on the communities in which we live. Each year, the 24 different practice groups are asked to identify a project they'd like to take on to give back. Our parent volunteers provide a huge amount of support to make these project happen, and we are so grateful for their enthusiastic support.

Up to the challenge: IMX

The annual IMX Challenge meet give swimmers an opportunity to branch out into different (and sometimes more challenging) events. The goal is to encourage swimmers to be well-rounded, IM-driven (strong in all four strokes) athletes.  The 2015 IMX Challenge took place right after the New Year holiday on January 2nd.  A HUGE thanks to all of the officials and other volunteers for putting on a great event!
