Education: Marist College, BA Advertising and Business Administration; University of Saint Joseph, Teaching Certification and Master's classes
Joined SwimMAC staff: May 2014
Sandy grew up in Connecticut where she started swimming at eight years old for her local YMCA team. After graduating high school, she attended Marist College in New York where she studied advertising and business administration, and swam for the Marist Red Foxes. During her four year college career she was a part of three Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) championship teams and broke several individual and relay team records.
After college, Sandy moved back to Connecticut and coached with the Southington YMCA Stingray Swim Team and Charter Oak Aquatic Club. Sandy has experience with senior level swimmers, but has primarily worked with the 14 & under age group and loves being able to set a foundation including good stroke technique, hard work, and love of the sport that these swimmers will carry with them as they grow older.
Sandy's coaching experience helped her recognize her passion for working with children. In 2010 she began a graduate program at the University of Saint Joseph in Connecticut to become a certified elementary school teacher. She began teaching at Hawk Ridge Elementary in August 2013 as a fifth grade teacher.
When she is not teaching or coaching, Sandy enjoys reading, watching the New York Yankees, and most recently, getting back into swimming herself!
