Tyler Clary


















Tyler grew up in California before attending the University of Michigan where he majored in computer science. He qualified for the U.S. Olympic Team in his first attempt, going on to win gold in the 200 meter backstroke at the 2012 Olympics in London. Since then, Tyler has continued to make a name for himself in international competition, winning the 200 backstroke at the 2014 Pan Pacific Games and taking 2nd in the 400 individual medley, third in the 200 butterfly, and fifth in the 200 individual medley. He also swam the final leg of the gold medal-winning 4x200 freestyle relay at the 2014 FINA short course world championships in Doha, Qatar. Tyler moved to Charlotte in early 2014 to train with Team Elite and pursue his other passion: race car driving. 


Swimming accomplishments: 

2015 World Championships - 4th in 400 IM, 7th in 200 backstroke, 12th in 200 butterfly

2014 Pan Pacific Championships - Gold 200 backstroke, silver 400 IM, bronze 200 butterfly, 5th in 200 IM

2014 U.S. Nationals - 1st 200 backstroke, 1st 400 IM, 2nd 200 butterfly, 3rd 200 IM

2012 London Olympic Games - Gold medal in 200 backstroke
