SwimMAC cruises to top times at Southeastern Senior Sectional Meet
At one the best meets this country has to offer on a yearly basis SwimMAC’s team of 24 rose to the occasion in grand form bringing home 2 individual titles, a 3rd place men’s team finish, and 68 personal best times. On the first night of competition after a long bus ride through the mountains of Tennessee Syd Lindblom, Billy Murch Elliot, Kristina Grayson, Dillon Love, Pete Brumm, Michael Blinn, and J.T. Stilley swam to best times with J.T. dropping 26 seconds and placing 8th overall. The group headed back to the hotel Indigo for some much needed rest and recuperation after a successful first night at the meet.

True Champions
After reflecting on the Austin Grand Prix meet I would like to congratulate all the Senior 1 swimmers. They all represented SwimMAC exceptionally well. I will not talk about times or places. They are great, and it is what a swimmer shoots for; best times and high place finishes. We did that (62 best times) but something else was going on beneath the surface this past weekend that I am much more excited about. This Senior 1 group truly cared about one another.
For the first time this season, swimmers CHOSE to stay behind and cheer on teammates that were still swimming. Elite swimmers were thanking Senior 1 swimmers in team meetings for cheering for them louder than Olympic gold medalists and world record holders were being cheered for. As I periodically looked at our section throughout the meet there were more eyes on the pool than on iPods. I experienced the passion and the ownership of races from individual swimmers; some shared tears, some shared hugs, and high fives. Regardless, they cared. A number of officials, coaches, and spectators complimented the SwimMAC staff on the attitude, manner, and energy that the SwimMAC swimmers demonstrated throughout the meet.
Earning best times and making top finishes in swimming is a high priority, but if that is all you focus on you are missing the big picture. If a team doesn't dig deeper than just racing the clock it will never reach its full potential and the swimmers will be short changed many of life's most important lessons. A team should care about each other, be involved in each others goals, and lead a LIFESTYLE of excellence. If a team can accomplish these feats, then best times and top finishes will surely come in overwhelming succession; but, more importantly those swimmers will have learned valuable life lessons along the way: they will learn how to care, how to be kind, and how to be supportive. This Senior 1 group took steps in the right direction this weekend. Keep it up!

Outstanding Finale for SwimMAC Quad Swimmers!
Over 350 swimmers from SwimMAC and three other teams (High Point, NSS, and Stingray) enjoyed outstanding results over the weekend at the SwimMAC Quad Championship Meet held at Latin facility. SwimMAC swimmers achieved many goals over the two-day meet, including BB times, A times, and several hundred personal best times. There were so many best times, in fact, that the Best Time Beast banner filled up and volunteers had to make a second Best Time Beast banner (see photos)!
Many thanks to the great volunteers who made this meet such a big success - parents, swimmers, friends, and SwimMAC alumni. Thanks to all of you for a job well done - we couldn't do these meets without you.

Senior Athletes “tune up” for Senior Sectional Meet in the Music City
This coming weekend 24 of our senior swimmers will be heading to Nashville, TN to race in the Southern Zone Eastern Sectional Championships. The Sectional Championships is the culminating meet for many of our senior swimmers and will provide the opportunity for many to race against some of the very best in this area of the country. SwimMAC has chalked up some very impressive hardware at this meet which include numerous team and individual titles so excitement is high amongst athletes and coaches. We look forward to seeing many best times, new qualifying standards for national level meets and those getting back for second swim opportunities in finals. This is going to be a very competitive meet and SwimMAC will need to be at their best to continue the club’s high level of excellence.
